When I get onto Facebook, however sporadic it may be, I look forward to seeing the updates of my friends, as well as those of the business pages I have “liked”. But with all of the new Facebook changes, have you noticed you are seeing less and less of the status updates to the business pages you’ve “liked”? I have been becoming more and more aware of this lately, and it has been a source of frustration.
I know there are all kinds of factors that go into which Facebook pages will or won’t show up in my news feed but, as simple as it may seem, I just want to see any and all updates to the pages I have have selected to “like”. Why else would I “like” a page if I wasn’t actually interested in seeing updates etc, right? Add to this, the fact that most business pages are now being forced to pay for each post if they want their entire audience to see it; making it even more unlikely it will end up in my news feed. And I will say, I don’t always have time to comment on each post that I would like too, and this also may play a part in how much (or how little) I see of my favorite pages.
You’d be surprised what you can find at the dollar store. I certainly was. I used to buy my florals only from Michaels or Craft Warehouse, resigned to the idea that you couldn’t get nice looking ones from dollar stores. I thought everything the dollar store sold was cheap looking and couldn’t be elegant. But after surfing Pinterest, I soon saw people creating very elegant looking decor from materials purchased at the dollar store. The one common thread, it seems, is when creating that “elegant-looking decor” from dollar stores, is there is some elbow grease required. They don’t offer “ready-made items” that look like they came out of the pages of a Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel catalog. But that’s totally fine with me, because I love to get CRAFTY! And I’m even more proud of myself once I’ve “created” an item in my home, versus just buying it. Don’t you think?
So when a fun family get together came up, I thought this would be the perfect time to “exercise” my craftiness, and try out some dollar store decor! I set out to create centerpieces, that were simple, elegant, yet had a natural feel to them. I used some items I had on hand, mixed with only a couple of items from the dollar store, and VOILA~!! I had a beautiful centerpiece, that even I was shocked at how high-end it looked. And to add to it all, was the fact that I put it together in only a matter of minutes! Super simple and super easy!!! Who doesn’t love that, right???
You’re probably thinking the words “elegant” and “dollar store” don’t belong in the same sentence, right? At least that’s what I thought, until perusing Pinterest and setting out to create an elegant dinner party on a dollar store budget! And although you won’t necessarily find items that can stand alongside Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel. All it takes is some imagination and a little DIY inspiration, and you’ll have a “Pottery Barn-Worthy” dinner party that looks like it came out of the pages of a magazine!!!
I’ve made no secret of my love for all things glitter. Well actually, all things sparkly (can’t leave that out!). So when I came upon the NYX Liquid Crystal Liners, I was instantly drawn to them. They are little tubes of blingy awesomeness! Like jewelry for your eyes!!!
Today we’re reviewing these little cuties. And I’ll feature lots of pictures and swatches, so you can decide if they will be the next addition to your stash!
Do you ever get stuck when Valentine’s Day comes around, looking for ideas that aren’t so cheesy or cheap looking? With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, I went on the hunt for some fun ideas for decor, gifts and projects. Looking for DIY ideas that were a little more elegant, not so cheap looking, and ones that were very doable yet affordable! AND, I found some wonderful ideas!! In fact, I had intented to do a post with around 10 ideas; then that grew to 20, and then 30. Well, then I figured I might as well do 101 IDEAS~!!! There were too many awesome ideas and actually ones that I’d love have in my decor year-round!!! (Yes, I kinda do love hearts, pink and red. I’m cheesy like that)
The wonderful thing about most (if not all) of these projects, is that you can pretty much get all the supplies you need at your local dollar store, or dollar section of your local craft store!!! I have to say, after seeing all of these amazing projects, I’m gaining a new-found respect for dollar stores~!!!
